Tablet help
3rd-Jul-2009 06:49 pm
So, I was getting a tablet for my birthday (July 26), and I wouldn't mind a little help.
If you stay within the $200 range will the tablet still have a good quality about it?
Also, does anybody know good brands for tablets? I know about Wacom, and such. I'm just wondering if anyone has a personal favorite brand.

Music Sharing

Grizzly Bear
I found this band a few weeks ago. They're from Brooklyn, and they've been together since 2004, I believe. Their latest album Veckatimest, is really good. I like almost every song on it. They sound like this beautiful boy choir, or something. At least that's what I think of when I hear their music, it's just so well put together. My favorites from Veckatimest, are: Fine for Now, Southern Point, Two Weeks, and While You Wait for the Others.

The Novembers
They're pretty awesome. They're a Japanese band that have this kind of chill, indie/punk feel to them. I was getting sick of looking for Visual-kei bands because most Visual-kei/Oshare-kei vocalists have terrible voices, truth to be told. There are good ones, but I feel as if I was falling out with them. So at the moment I'm focusing on the regular rock musicians. They have two good albums (from what I know.) Picnic is amazing so far, I highly recommend them. My favorites off of that album are: Kowareru, Ama Retto, and Bokura no Himei.

Coaltar of the Deepers

Somebody's got to listen to them, their music is so euphoric, and ambient. I'm hoping somebody will give them a try. They are classified with the Shoegazer genre, a lot of different melodies and rhythms are incorporated into their music, I think they have very original content, and their approach to music is wild. They span so many different genres. My favorite album by them is Yukari Telepath, though I love every one I have by them. My favorite tracks off of Yukari Telepath: Water Bird, Hedorian Forever, Aquarian Age, Carnival, Evil Line, and Deepless.

Yeah, but give it a chance you might like what you hear from one of these bands.

Books
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess: After having numerous people recommend it to me, and hearing about it quite a bit, I picked it up. I finished this book, and it was delightful! It was real horrorshow. I loved the invented slang. I thought it was creative that the author borrowed from Russian language and turned it into his own terms. Even though Alex is an evil, little character I still like him; there's something about him that is enjoyable. I like the questioning of choices and morals that the book brings up, and it seems like it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a short, nice read, and I'm currently re-reading it again. I don't know why I enjoyed this book so much, I just did. The movie was fun to watch as well.

Portions from a Wine-Stained Notebook by Charles Bukowski
: Currently reading, I only read the first story, but I like his style so far.

Hot Zone by Richard Preston
: I haven't gotten to that yet, but it's about Ebola, so I thought it would be a fun read. My friend, Jessica is letting me borrow it.
Photobucket
Yes, that's me.
The signs say:
What did the number line say to the mathematician?
Don't worry, you can count on me. :)

I came up with it randomly one day, it's probably been said before though.
I spelled mathematician wrong. ;A;

Sorry for the long entry, suppose my gulliver is just full of thoughts tonight; could be from me being all on my oddy knocky.
(it's fun.)

Currently listening to "Two Weeks" by Grizzly bear 8D I swear, I remember this album art from somewhere...was it when I used pandora? Maybe...

Thank you for the music!! I likes it :3

I have an old 4x6 Wacom Graphire (?) It works pretty well for me. :3 It was a gift from my dad some Christmases ago...I think he said it wasn't more than $150?

Actually, it used to be pretty wonky on my desktop...but that was running on xp, and now it works just fine on my laptop that runs on vista. Just thought I'd let you know that :3

Two Weeks by them is what caught my attention. It's so pretty. What's Pandora; a program of some sort?

You're welcome.

I'm going to check that out, thank you for the reference. :) The sad thing is that I use Windows XP. I'll just check out what it's best compatible with. I need to delete things before I get a tablet anyway, or there won't be any room for its software, haha.
